Paige McDonald

Teachers - Junior High - Grade 6/7

About Me

My name is Paige McDonald and I am the new grade 6/7 teacher. You can call me Miss Paige. I was born and raised in Yellowknife NT. I competed my Bachelor of Education degree at Aurora College in Fort Smith. Both my parents were administrators in Yellowknife and recently retired after 40 years of teaching! For the past 3 years I was teaching in Fort McPherson.

In the last 4 years I have been to around 15 different countries. The most recent country being Australia. I love to travel and learn about new cultures. The biggest highlight of my traveling has been being an arm’s length away from a hump back whale in a kayak. The next place I would like to travel to is Iceland.

I have 2 nieces and 1 nephew who live in Edmonton. I like to go visit them every chance I get. Kya is the oldest at 6, James is 3 and Juniper just turned 2. Since I don’t have brothers or sisters I like to spoil them as much as I can, their favorite present is books. I love reading fiction books and interesting facts on the internet. Did you know there are 36 different kinds of mosquitos in the NWT?

Some of my hobbies include, Traditional sewing, beading, being on the land, playing sports. My favorite sport is basketball. I won a bronze Ulu at the 2006 Arctic Winter Games. And in 2016 I went to Nuuk Greenland for basketball mission staff!

My favorite subjects in school are Social Studies and Physical Education. I am looking forward to the 2017/2018 school year and getting to know everyone here in Norman Wells.

P.S. I really like jokes that make me laugh.
